Director of ICCR, H.E ambassador of Afghanistan in India, dear friends and students. Good evening.
I am delighted to be here and I would like to thank from the organizers of the event of inviting me to share my thought in the “Indo-Afghan cultural week” hosted jointly by embassy of Afghanistan and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR). Many of us travelled long distances serve to remind us all just how important this event is and I would like to thank you all for your participation.
Let me start by the sentence that Mahatma Gandhi made long times ago that “nothing would prevent us to offer our help and services to the nations that living beyond our political borders. He says that these borders have not created by God. I must say that the successors of Gandhi and the political leadership of this great nation have fulfilled his word particularly toward Afghans and Afghanistan. We Afghans looking to India not only as a country with great civilization but as a brand and as a symbol. We look India as a symbol that representing diversity, tolerance, nonviolence, hard worker, incredibility, patience and a sincere friend.
In this short period of time I would like to emphasize on three broad areas that Afghans and Afghanistan can lea from India. These areas would be culture, economics and politics.
Culture
Culture is defined as ideas, customs, and social behaviour of a particular people or particular society. I must say that the cultural similarities between Afghanistan and India makes Afghans interested in public culture of India, its cinema and dramas, its cloth and fashion, its food and festival and its dances and music. The highlight of Indian culture can be summed up as follows:
The beauty of India is its unity in diversity. It is a custom that Muslims are living with Hindus, Christians are friends with Jews, Jains are embracing the Parsis and the Buddhists are brothers and neighbours of the Sardars. It is a custom that they are sharing together the ideas, making inter religion friends and making inter faith communication and contact, sharing foods together, attending their joint festivals. It is a custom in India that Masjids are not only for Muslims but visited by different faiths, Gudwara are not for Sikhs but offering foods for poor irrespective of creed, castes and religion , the church is not restricted for Christians and the temples not limited to the Hindus. Despite their differences in belief, thought, way of life all Indians are united under one flag, love their only country Mother India or (Bharat Mata).
These are the beauties of India that we can lea from them. India provided us scholarships for the youth not only to build our human resources but made an opportunity to visit India, see the culture, experience the interaction in society in order to be good and responsible citizens of our own country.
Economics
Economics defined as the study of scarcity, the study of how people use their limited resources. The excellent technical and economic knowledge of Indian helped them to cope with limited resources. The GDP of Indian economy expanded from 2.7 lakh crore to more than 57 lakh crore and their foreign reserve reached more than 300 billion dollars sine the India independence in 1947. Simply put the hardworking of its leaders and the contentment of common Indian (Qanaat) are reasons behind this success. We can see that Indians are condescending with whatever they have. They try to keep their creed under control. That is why despite of economic hardship the level of crimes are very less comparing to the population. Moreover Indians know the art of saving. It shows that they make plans for their tomorrow and thinking about the prosperity of their child and the next generation.
Indian did not kept their success with themselves but shared with their neighbours particularly Afghanistan. To excel in our economy (Afghanistan) India helped us by providing more than 3 billion dollars to make our infrastructures, to invest in our road construction, building our schools and hospital.
Politics
Politics is defined as authoritative allocation of resources. Indian politics is reflected in the thought of Mahatma Gandhi who stood for Ahimsa and Satyagraha. Indian politics is elaborated in Indian constitution that drafted by great leader of the nation Dr B.M Ambedkar. It stands for democratic goveance. It stands for social, economic and political justice. It respects the liberty of thought, expression, belief and worships. It says about equality of status and opportunity. When it talks about frateity emphasises on the dignity of individuals and the unity among nation. Therefore such polity made Indians to imagine politics of the country inclusive. They see the economic justice in practice when the resources are distributed equally. They experience political justice by equal political participation in democratic election. Equality would be more highlighted when a Muslim is becoming the Indian representative in the UN, a Christian as ambassador to the foreign nation and the Sikh as prime minister of India. There are more examples that time would not allow me to mention and elaborate on.
Before concluding my speech,
Indian friend should know that the image of Afghanistan is not clubbed with terrorism and war and the Afghans are not radicals. They love peace, searching to live prosper, believing in modeization and mode life. Such images produced not by Afghans but by the geopolitics and geo strategic location of our country, the intervention of the super powers and the interference of our greedy neighbours. Afghans do not forget their roots and respect to their pasts and history. We respect to our Buddhist, Zoroastrian, Hindus and Islamic heritage and looking forward to use them as platform to offer our love with other nations including India.
To conclude my speech we must lea from diversity and unity of Indians, we must lea the love for the country and hardworking for the prosperity of the country, we must defend from our democratic establishment and work hard to cherish the content of our constitution.
Once again, I thank from govement of India for their generous assistance, Indian for their warm hospitality and the ICCR for inviting me to talk in this occasion.
